Never be afraid to get dirty, but be sufficiently sure-footed to avoid the abyss of contamination.

Ordinary Guy

He’s just an ordinary guy,
Living an ordinary day,
Doing ordinary things,
In his ordinary way.

He hits snooze three times
Before turning off the clock.
Then rushes to the shower
So he can make it across the block.

The bus is waiting there,
So he sits himself down.
He falls asleep inside
As it goes across town.

The bus drives through
The City of Fog.
And Ordinary Guy reaches his
Job at The Cog.
While there are many days
That he has to slog,
Ordinary Guy is just
Another wheel in The Cog.

He doesn’t whistle while he works:
No need for such airs,
But as The Cog’s wheels turn,
He stops and stares.

To see them spin
Brings such a high
To this ordinary person,
This Ordinary Guy.
