Arizmendi. Say it one million times. Say it a million more. Then the word you will have said two million times will be Arizmendi!
I live in on the northwestern edge of Cole Valley, just blocks from Golden Gate Park, the Haight, and Inner Sunset. In previous walks around Inner Sunset, I have discovered a Crepevine, Andronico’s, and Cha-Ya. That’s right: Inner Sunset is the North Berkeley of San Francisco. (Inner Sunset also contains a Naan-N-Curry as well as a Gordo, but I would hesitate to call it the Berkeley of San Francisco since I like to think of the Haight as the Telegraph of San Francisco.)
But how can you have North Berkeley and not have Cheeseboard? Well, it turns out that Cheeseboard is part of a chain of independently run cooperatives called Arizmendi. Today, I stumbled upon Arizmendi Bakery in– where else?– the Inner Sunset. Yes!
