It starts with dinner. They do not need to gather but sharing in the experience gives them a sense of community. The number of people varies from week to week, but there is usually a core group of the faithful. As they eat, the group discusses mythology and the future. They all have different interpretations of what is foretold, each citing the sources that support his or her view. Unfortunately, no one can forsee what will happen.

Dinner is simply a prelude to the real event. They sit down and dim the lights. Some light-hearted humor is exchanged, but when the music starts, everyone becomes quiet. Talking is only permitted at certain times, and on the rare instance when this is violated, the offender is silenced immediately. When all is done, some stay around to discuss their interpretations and philosophy. The truly devoted repeat the ritual. Eventually, the group disbands, looking forward to the following week when they reconvene.

What a loving tribute to your much-loved show and the ritual it created. You might be happy to know that I saw the episode– Lee’s speech on the “witness stand” was fantastic.
