Quarter = Third = Half
“The year has gone by quickly,” S observed.
“In fact,” noted K, “the past 25 years have gone by quickly. A quarter of a century.”
“Yes. You can either look at it as a third of your life or half of your life is over.”
“Isn’t half a little pessimistic?”
“Well, of course many people live to 75, but after 50, how much of your life is going to change? You will be settled in and comfortable. Now we are students. The past 25 years were for learning and preparing. Soon we will graduate and start our lives. The next 25 years we’ll be building something: earning money, starting a family, giving back. By 50, our biggest challenges will be behind us.”
“I never thought of it that way. The next 25 will sure be exciting then.”
I’m looking forward to the next quarter/third/half.
